Should I get the new 2011 Macbook Pro (15 Inch) or wait until Apple totally revamps the line in 2012?

Question by Cynthia G: Should I get the new 2011 Macbook Pro (15 Inch) or wait until Apple totally revamps the line in 2012?
I want a new computer, and they just released the refresh on the aluminum bodied macbook pro, but there are rumors that apple will be releasing a totally changed one in 2012, exterior and interior, and I don’t know if i should wait or not.

Also, is the 15 inch better than the 13 inch? Like quad core vs. dual core? Thanks!

Get a quad core. They’re awesome. If you have a computer and don’t mind waiting, then just wait. If they’re going to revamp the line, the new ones will be awesome. If I had waited a year, I’d have the new os, and way better hardware (like an actual graphics card).

But I would look into it if I were you. make sure they really are redesigning everything. If they aren’t then get one now, they’re ultra durable. Also, unless you want the protection plan for life, I wouldn’t bother. I payed 250 extra for apple care, and never used it once. There should be a default 3 month warranty, if you have hardware problems, you’ll likely know by then.

I’m having the same dilemma right now. The thing is that rumors are just rumors. For this new macbook line 2011, rumors were talking about new design, SDD startup, larger trackpad etc. I was so exited only to discover that the processor was better and that they incorporated thunderbold which no one can use right now.

To answer your question, I think that if your old laptop is still running fine, no need to buy the new 2011 Macbook Pro. However if you really need a new laptop don’t wait a full year impatiently to end up as disappointed as me this year. Chances are they will keep the same design (as they did for a long time with the previous version).

If you have the 15-inch Macbook Pro 2010, I suggest you just wait for the 2012 Macbook Pro since it’s already in production: http://pinoytutorial.com/techtorial/new-macbook-pro-2012-release-and-specs-leaked-already/

As for the specs, 13-inch Macbook Pro 2011 can be customize for a dual-core Core i3 or Quad Core Core i5 processor, it depends on you. But hard-drive wise, Macbook Pro 15-inch has a better overall specs than the 13-inch.
